21st  September 2019, Cinema for All's annual awards ceremony in Sheffield, Ron Currie collecting Best Film Programme  Award for our 2018 / 2019 season's programme.

Citation - this group has often appeared in the nominee list for Best Film Programme and has always just narrowly missed out on the big win. Never giving up though, they have been constantly reviewing and justifying their selection processes over the years - always bearing in mind their membership and especially any newcomers. The range and diversity of what they show is simply astonishing. Always looking for challenging and stimulating stories, this group brings world cinema, LGBTQ+ stories, charity screenings and more to their small Scottish town. Always thinking about next steps, always reviewing, we're so glad to see this group finally get the award that reflects their hard work.

Ron also won an award for Outstanding Contribution by an Individual. Ayr Film Society is delighted that our Secretary/Treasurer's tireless hard work has been recognised at this prestigious event.

Citation - Everyone knows that the power of community cinema comes from teamwork and supporting one another. Everyone's perspective. skill and time contributes to the operation and success of your cinema. Within these groups. though, exists a catalyst, a driving force of enthusiasm and insatiable commitment that energises both team members and audiences. The Outstanding Contribution by an individual Award exists to give volunteers a chance to shine a light on the beacons that gleam brightly in their own organisations. The nominee was spoken about by his fellow organisers in effusive terms - a person who is clearly the backbone of their organisation. In the words of his nomination "His love of film is generous, and he encourages charity screenings and joint ventures - like the annual silent movie with a live organ accompaniment or supporting a screening for the local LGBTQ+ group. He is open to new ideas and is always willing to do whatever he can to bring the world of cinema to a greater audience. His dedicated approach truly embodies the philosophy of providing cinema for all".
